ScreenPlay Goes To GenCon

ScreenPlay_cover_7x10_March2016_preview2It’s not a zany sequel (though wouldn’t that be cool?), it’s the truth. Thanks to our partnership with the Independent Game Designers Network (IGDN), print copies of ScreenPlay will be available at Gen Con 50 this weekend! Anyone who buys a copy at Booth #2437 will also receive a PDF copy of the game, a handy reference to send out to your Writers. Plus you can find many other indie games from publishers such as Growling Door Games (Chill), Magpie Games (Epyllion, Masks), Third Eye Games (Pip System), and our good friends from the Ottawa Game Publishers Podcast too.

Stop on by and discover games you never knew you always wanted to play.

Countdown To High Noon

HPS-Kickstarter_April2017_leadgraphic_stretch3_1024x576You did it! After a long fought battle to reach the $5,000 mark, the High Plains Samurai backers have crossed this major milestone and unlocked two stretch goals. Right now, the Kickstarter will help create four products starting December of this year.

  • High Plains Samurai (the core rulebook)
  • Legend of the High Plains Samurai (Writer’s supplement/game preview)
  • Ballad of a High Plains Samurai (fiction by Fraser Ronald)
  • Atlas of the One Land (online setting guide)

Now comes the big finale. With only a couple days remaining in this campaign, we have until 10pm EST on Thursday, January 29th to reach at least $7,000 and turn the core rulebook into High Plains Samurai: Black Scorpion’s Revenge. Targeted at around 160 pages, BSR will provide an expanded Director’s section detailing recommendations and best practises for attaining the best possible results from the game, expand information about the six major locations in the One Land, and provide a list of scenarios, major supporting characters, and more needed to tell your version of Black Scorpion’s quest for vengeance. Combining this treatment with the first tale of the Wrath Of Chaos trilogy will create the ultimate core rulebook for HPS, and offers big value for your money.

This is also your last chance to get in on claiming a limited edition, Kickstarter exclusive hardcover copy of High Plains Samurai by backing at the Hardened Outsider or the Unstoppable Hunter levels (which also includes a 24×36 poster map/playmat of the One Land to be designed by Jeff Brown). If you haven’t backed us yet, click here and check out any of the interviews, podcasts, and actual plays to help you make an informed decision.

The streets have been cleared as qi warriors from all over gather. The old clock looming over the city square casts a shadow to block out the scorching sun, its never-ending click echoing off the raggedy buildings. Soon, it will strike noon, the bells will ring, weapons will be drawn, and we will see once and for all what fate will befall the One Land. Will you be one of the chosen few to bring us to our goal?

Two More Weeks and Counting…

If there’s one piece of advice to dispense above all others for anyone looking to run a Kickstarter, it’s this: the middle of the campaign is a killer. After this resounding success meeting our target in only 47 hours, the High Plains Samurai Kickstarter is now at the midsection of the campaign and building towards what we hope will be an exciting conclusion.

If you haven’t been there yet or if you haven’t checked it out since the launch, take a look at all the goodies that are waiting for you should we cross the $5,000 and $7,000 lines. Based on our current projections, it looks as if we’ll be able to create a small product line for HPS and it’s all thanks to our backers.

Visit the High Plains Samurai Kickstarter and back it today! Or tomorrow. But definitely no later than June 29th.

You can also read Fraser Ronald’s first three chapters of Ballad of a High Plains Samurai, the origin story of Black Scorpion.

Funded!

That one glorious word says it all. It only took 47 hours to reach its goal and the people have spoken – High Plains Samurai has reached its target goal and there’s still 28 days to take this game to the next level.

The response to HPS has been amazing and while there’s still a long road to travel before we cross the last stretch goal on the current list (at $18,000), we are working on new ideas to expand how all players can interact with the One Land and move their story forward. Stay tuned for that.

Because we reached our initial goal, it also means Jeff Brown will put together a full colour map of the One Land. You can learn more about Jeff and his amazing portfolio (he’s also the cover artist for ScreenPlay) on his website.

Thank you everyone for your support and we can’t wait to see how fast this train can go.
