Play HPS at Origins

Origins-Game-Fair-logo-450x240.pngTo everyone going to the Origins Game Fair this week(end), enjoy and have a great time trying everything new and beloved! We’re so pleased to know that High Plains Samurai: Legends will not only be on sale at the IGDN booth, but there will also be a game of Showdown in Yung Zhi available for new Writers to try. Massive thanks goes out to the IGDN for helping to make this happen (and at GenCon too). We hope you have a chance to check it out.

You can learn more about HPS Legends here and discover more about the world of the One Land at highplainssamurai.com.

Looking For Directors At GenCon & Origins 2018

HPS_Legends_cover_web_850x1200_Jan2018Thanks to our membership with the IGDN, there will be games of High Plains Samurai: Legends available at both Origins and GenCon this year… but we need Directors (GMs) to run them for us. Due to numerous reasons, attending these cons ourselves is not a possibility and so we’re more than happy to help sweeten the deal.

If you’re interested in running HPS Legends at either of these cons, please send Todd an email and let him know which of the current slots for either Origins or GenCon you can handle. We’ll take care of the rest. And for your generosity, we’re going to provide you with a print copy of HPS Legends as well as a digital “Director’s Care Package” with all the cheat sheets, character notes, and handouts you’ll need to run your game with style.

Misdirected Mark Takes On High Plains Samurai

MMPFeatured-400x319It’s been a very exciting couple of weeks for the One Land and now the first episode has dropped on your favourite pod catchers. The trio of Phil, Chris, and Bob from the Misdirected Mark Podcast are playing a 3-episode actual play of High Plains Samurai: Legends! If there was ever a group that would be the target audience for this game, it’s the folks at MMP (who have been incredibly helpful and awesome about this game).

It’s a unique new format and the first time they’ve ever done it on their show, which makes us extra proud to be the premier game of their new AP segment. Modelled after the Walking Eye podcast, the trio plays 20-minute scenes of the game before taking a sidebar to discuss the mechanics for a total of two scenes per episode. Afterwards, they will dedicate an episode to discuss a particular aspect or mechanic from the game. After far as APs go, this is about as in-depth as you can get with a good assortment of fight scenes and dialogue scenes to highlight the core mechanics of the game.

Check out the first session of High Plains Samurai on the Misdirected Mark Podcast. You can also catch the third session live on Twitch this coming Tuesday, May 8th at 8:45pm EST.
