Once upon a time, there was a game that changed the course of tabletop gaming for generations. We’re not exactly sure what it’s called because a certain licence won’t let us actually call it what it is… but we’re pretty sure you’ve heard of it. For many, it’s known as the World’s Greatest Roleplaying Game.
Well, this is The World’s Greatest Roleplaying Game: The Zine. It’s a zine providing an indie spin on the 5th edition of this tabletop behemoth, a chance to try out something new for those of you who like to dabble or are finally willing to cave in and play the world’s greatest yada-yada-yada with a few story game ideas in hand. Maybe you’d even like to play a game of players as they actually play the world’s greatest roleplaying game to become the ultimate meta roleplaying game!
Warning: This zine will only be available through Kickstarters and will NOT be sold via DriveThruRPG. It will be distributed to backers via DriveThruRPG. Back issues will be made available in future Kickstarter campaigns.
Each issue will be produced in a 24-page 8.5″ by 5.5″ booklet format in both PDF and POD from DriveThruRPG. Everyone who writes original material for WGRG: The Zine will be paid at 10 cents per word CAD (or 8 cents per word USD) because miniatures ain’t cheap and that cotton ball with toothpicks sticking out can only go so far.
WGRG: The Zine is the brainchild of Jen Adcock (Gnome Stew, Only One Bed) and Todd Crapper (Killshot, Combat Advantage, Key of the Fey). It’s going to be a fun and wacky collection of optional material inspired by some of the amazing ideas and mechanics taking place in the independent tabletop space. Real ideas that will work at your table. This zine is for everyone out there who calls themselves polygamerous (patent pending Misdirected Mark Productions) and enjoys playing lots of different games for lots of different reasons. Like you. No, not you. The one looking over your shoulder pretending they’re not interested. And yes, it’s for you too.
